Fair Trade Assemblies
Jo Bird offers interactive and fun Fair Trade assemblies to schools.
The input aims to:
- Raise awareness of Fair Trade and the difference we can make.
- Assist schools in reaching, or re-newing Fair Trade School status.
- Celebrate Fair Trade Fortnight.
- Be tailored to meet your specific needs.
- Encourage enjoyment of good quality and Fair Trade food.
Fair Trade assembly package includes:
- Delivery of 20 to 40 minute interactive and fun assembly.
- All props and preparation.
- Taster samples of Fair Trade goodies for staff room and classrooms.
- Fair Trade information leaflets and educational materials for the classroom.
- Fair Trade Foundation school pack on CD or hard copy.
- Written assembly plan for future delivery of further Fair Trade assemblies by teachers.
Optional extras include:
- Mentoring to become or re-new Fair Trade school status.
- Support in setting up or running a Young Co-operative.
- Opportunities to meet Fair Trade producers in-school, at events or over internet.
- Travel costs beyond Greater Manchester.
£280 for one assembly package. Reductions are available for bookings of more than one assembly.
Jo Bird has delivered dozens of Fair Trade assemblies, lessons, presentations and workshops, since 2002. Jo learnt the details of Fair Trade whilst working at the Co-operative Group head office - and gained Bishop Desmond Tutu's endorsement of South African Fair Trade wine. Jo founded Olive Co-operative in 2003, developing fair trade supply chains from Palestine and Israel to the UK.
