Perfect Storm for Greens to win in Birkenhead

Why am I standing to be the Green MP for Birkenhead?

Because I believe Birkenhead Deserves Better.

Birkenhead deserves an MP that puts Birkenhead first. That rebuilds our town centre, that votes FOR ceasefire and offers practical solutions to injustice.

Only the Greens have got the policies for a fairer, greener country. We would insulate our homes, phase out all fossil fuels, nationalise water and energy, and tax the super-rich to pay for our NHS.

If I get elected it’ll change our part of the world for good.

It’ll show the whole country what the Green Party can do. It’ll springboard Wirral Greens into more councillors in Wirral Council. As an MP, I’ll remind the Labour government of their previous promises.

You know what? Greens have a perfect storm to win in Birkenhead

• More people voted Green in the last local elections in Birkenhead than voted Labour.

• We’ve got 10 out of 21 councillors are Green in Birkenhead.

• On the doorstep, most people are saying they’ll vote Green, or consider it, at the next General Election, if they’ve got a local Green councillor in their ward.

• We’ve got really strong social media, and campaign team with a proven track record of winning elections.

• For example, in Bromborough we shifted the Green vote share from 20% to 57% in just one year.

Meanwhile, support for Tories has vanished and Labour have left the pitch. They haven’t even put out a General Election leaflet yet in Birkenhead. The election is maybe six months away and they are nowhere to be seen. On the doorstep, people are saying Greens are the only ones we hear from. They are putting their efforts into Wirral West. There is zero enthusiasm for Labour or its leader.

Why? Because people are telling us, the Labour Party has turned into Tories.

Labour and Tories vote together on Wirral Council, to shove Birkenhead market under a car park, against ceasefire, against paying the Real Living Wage and they vote for themselves to grab even more power.  

Labour are promising more of the same Tory cuts to public services. The same flag waving and racism as the Tories. A creeping fascism that supports war and comes for: Jews like me, for people like you who are different, for people who are brown, black, gay, commies, trade unionists and tree huggers. You know, we’re brilliant and I love you.

We know the Labour Party doesn’t support diversity, dissent or striking workers. They could do the same and worse in government.

So its for all these reasons, I’m standing to be Birkenhead MP. Its vital we campaign to win. The stakes are high.

The good news is its now a two horse race between Greens and Labour. We can convince voters to vote Green and make the right choice. Particularly by delivering more of these excellent leaflets that we are producing very regularly now.

We also need to raise more money to pay for printing the leaflets. So if you can afford it, please do contribute tonight. But also if you can afford a monthly regular donation, even £100 a month, until the General Election. That would go a really long way to get the money to do what we need to do.
