Support from all Wirral Green councillors for striking frontline workers

Councillor Jo Bird said, "Talking of waste, I would like to express our support from all the Green councillors to all Unite members who work for Biffa waste collection services and their strike action this week. [Applause]

They are striking for decent pay. Many are here today.

Decent pay is the least that front line workers can expect who worked throughout the pandemic and provided services. Including the rail workers, posties, bin collectors, nurses, teachers and care workers.

Biffa plc has paid out £53 million to shareholders since 2018, so they can afford to settle this dispute and make a pay offer that can be accepted."
